Designed specifically for military use in extreme cold weather environments.
As a reaction to the frostbite that many soldiers suffered while fighting in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War, the Bunny Boot was designed to support soldiers in the coldest conditions that any military could resonably attempt to operate, a ‘worst-case scenario’ that would include regions such as Alaska, Siberia, and both the Arctic and Antarctic poles.
The ‘Bunny Boot’ is the most common nickname for the Extreme Cold Vapor Barrier Boot. This large, bulbous, waterproof rubber boot can be worn in the most frigid weather, −20°F to −60°F (−29°C to −51°C), with the liner-free interior retaining warmth by sandwiching up to one inch of wool and felt insulation between two vacuum-tight layers of rubber.
